Gatsibo, FH Rwanda inaugurate Mayange Primary School

Officials in Gatsibo District, Eastern Province of Rwanda have officially inaugurated Eight Classrooms at Mayange Primary School whose construction was 100% funded by Food for the Hungry (FH) Rwanda.

The School which locates in Nyagihanga Sector, Mayange Cell in Gatsibo District is valued at Rwf 70 million donated by FH Rwanda.

FH Rwanda started construction works in 2018 when they handed over 4 complete rooms and in this year 2019 they handed over additional 4 rooms making a total of 8 rooms.

Currently Mayange Primary School host over 700 students from various cells of Nyagihanga Sector.

According to the Headmistress of the School Ufitenyina Philothee “The number of the children is as high as over 90 students are meeting in one class and that may have negative impacts on children’s performance.”

However, Ndayisaba Faustin FH Rwanda Program Coordinator said “FH Rwanda is ready to donate additional funding to expand the school and what is remaining is the District’s formal request for the fund and once the request is made we hope by the end of the year we can start processing procurement.”

“As FH wants to graduate beneficiaries from poverty, we look for sustainable solutions. The School is part of the sustainable solution to poverty eradication. “He said

“Normally we do something like starting with the pregnant women, we teach the family how they can feed the pregnant woman, we enable them to have nutritious foods, after delivering the baby we help her until the baby knows to work on her/his own, we bring him/her to school and then we let him/her but stay near until fully grown and educated.” Ndayisaba explains

Beneficiaries spent at least 10 years with FH and throughout that period beneficiary gets supported in various areas of intervention namely Health, Education, Livelihoods and Disaster Risk reduction.

FH Rwanda (Food for the Hungry) is an International Christian Relief and Development Organization with a vision of ending all forms of extreme poverty while at the same time working tirelessly to graduate communities from extreme poverty

In an Interview with TOPAFRICANEWS.COM, Hitimana Muhirwa Eric FH Coordinator for Nyagihanga Cluster in Gatsibo District explained that “Apart from the school premises, FH Rwanda also constructed 12 toilettes at the school, donated 240 desks/30 desks in each class and two rainwater Harvesting tanks..

The Vice Mayor in Charge of Social Affairs in Gatsibo District Kantengwa Mary commended FH Rwanda for contributing to the wellbeing of Citizens adding that “We also thank the Government of Rwanda to allow such organizations to operate in our country and this is because of Good Leadership.”

Kantengwa urged community to be part of the continuous progress being made towards the total eradication of extreme poverty.
