Nyagatare: REWU Trade Union trained EAGI workers on labor ministerial order related to gross misconduct
On 24th September 2021, the Management of the East African Granite Industry which operates in Nyagatare District welcomed the Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union (REWU) for their usual trainings to the Extractive industry workers especially EAGI staffs.
The EAGI management commended REWU last week on September 24, 2021 after REWU paid a working visit to the factory to train its workers on labor laws, especially new ministerial order on gross misconduct and to highlight the role of the trade Union in increasing good working conditions, promoting social dialogues, advocacy and defending workers rights once are abused.
In his remarks, the Director of Finance and Administration at EAGI Mr Kweli Francis praised REWU’s representatives in the company as well as its national leadership in employee’ advocacy and advice on good management of workers by handling their problems amicably.
He assured the cooperation between the Management of the EAGI Company and REWU.
The training was organized by REWU and was chaired by the Secretary General of REWU, Eng. Mutsindashyaka Andre, accompanied by the Deputy Secretary General and the Lawyer of the REWU, Mr. Bwanakweli Jean Marie Vianey along with the Coordinator of REWU in the Eastern and Northern Provinces, Mr. Deogratias Musabyimana.
The main purpose of the visit was to discuss with the company management on some employees labor disputes, training on ministerial order of the gross misconduct that would make an employee fired or lead to the termination of the contract with effect.
This is in line with the continuous training of workers in the mining industry to continue to encourage them to be more productive in the company as well as knowing their rights at working place.
