EBCR Pulse “Together for an Inclusive Business Environment” 

Public - Private Dialogue Panel at PULSE - Together for an inclusive Business Environment

ADVOCACY SUMMIT: 5th April 2023.

  • A One-Day Advocacy Summit with the European Business Chamber of Rwanda at Park-inn by Radisson in Kigali;
  • Guests speakers from EU, RDB, Rwanda Finance, RRA, FDA, RTB, I&M bank and EBCR members; 
  • 3 working groups in key sectors: Finance & Taxation, Manufacturing and local production, Employment, skills, youth;

The European Business Chamber in Rwanda held its first Advocacy Summit under the theme ‘Together for an inclusive Business Environment” on April 5th 2023.

From the Park Inn hotel conference facilities, EBCR brought together key stakeholders and decisions makers in order to share best practices and challenges and solutions for a better business environment in Rwanda and the region.

At the opening sessions, EBCR board Chairman, Mr. Giovanni Davite Giovanni reminded the audience that EBCR is here to inform, network and represent and to make Public-Private dialogue effective.

He added that “EBCR welcomes European investors in Rwanda, land of opportunity and conducive business environment. We are here to make Rwanda a more successful country.”

The Delegation of the European Union to Rwanda Ambassador Belen Calvo Uyarra EU expressed her pleasure to see the great progress of EBCR while the European Delegation is supporting Rwanda to becoming a middle income country by 2035.

She added that “The reason why we supported the creation of EBCR is because they proved to be a very effective platform to coordinate with key stakeholders in Rwanda, one of the most attractive countries to make business in”

She also noted that “We pleased to participate in the EBCR Advocacy Summit for an inclusive business environment focusing on youth employment and skills. As EU, we promote youth entrepreneurship & employment, and support an improved business environment for trade and investment”

A Public – Private Dialogue Panel Discussion moderated by EBCR Director Johanna Sandberg was included in the one-day Summit to discuss what incentives foreign investors can access in Rwanda and what are the key challenges to foreign investment operating in Rwanda and how to collaborate to address them. Panelists were EBCR President Giovanni Davite, Head of Aftercare Department at RDB Desire Rusatira, Kigali International Financial center’s Deputy Chief Investment Officer Jean Marie Kananura, I&M Bank’s CEO Robin Baistow and Claudia Muench, CEO Biomasters
