Rwanda, a country known for its commitment to sustainable development, has identified Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a crucial pillar for the nation’s progress. In line with this, the Salesians of Don Bosco have launched a campaign under the theme “Make the right Choice, Enroll in TVET” to raise awareness among young people about the importance of studying TVET.
The Salesians of Don Bosco, a worldwide Catholic religious congregation, have been active in Rwanda’s education sector since the 1960s. With their expertise in technical and vocational education, they have established three TVET schools in the country. These schools, namely Don Bosco Muhazi TVET school, Don Bosco Gatenga TVET school, and Don Bosco Rango TVET school, have become renowned for providing life skills education and training to the youth.
Recognizing the significance of TVET in equipping young people with practical skills and knowledge, the Salesians of Don Bosco have taken the initiative to promote this form of education. Through their campaign, they aim to encourage more students to enroll in TVET programs and realize the potential of technical skills for personal and national development.
It is well known that TVET education offers a wide range of opportunities for students to develop skills in various fields such as construction, mechanics, agriculture, and hospitality, among others. By acquiring these skills, young people can gain a competitive edge in the job market and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
The Salesians of Don Bosco are well-aware of the transformative power of TVET education.
They believe that by equipping young people with technical skills, they are empowering them to become self-reliant and active contributors to society. Through their schools, the Salesians provide not only theoretical knowledge but also practical training, ensuring that students are well-prepared to enter the workforce.
The Rwandan government’s recognition of TVET education as a pillar for sustainable development further emphasizes the importance of the Salesians’ campaign.
By aligning their efforts with the country’s vision, the Salesians of Don Bosco are making a significant contribution to Rwanda’s development agenda.
The Salesians’ campaign to raise awareness about TVET education is expected to have a positive impact on young people’s career choices. By highlighting the benefits and opportunities offered by technical and vocational training, they hope to inspire more students to consider TVET as a viable option for their future
