President Kagame, Tshisekedi Arrive in Washington for Historic Accord Signing

Washington, D.C. – December 3, 2025: In a significant diplomatic move, Presidents Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have arrived in Washington, D.C., ahead of the highly anticipated signing of the Washington Accord scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, December 4, 2025.
The agreement aims to address long-standing conflicts in eastern Congo, an area that has suffered from violence and instability for years. Both leaders are expected to engage in discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump before the formal signing ceremony, which is set to take place at the White House.
President Kagame and President Tshisekedi’s arrival marks a hopeful step toward peace in the Great Lakes Region, as they seek to solidify collaborative efforts to end the cycles of violence that have plagued their nations for far too long.

In a statement released by the Congolese presidency, President Tshisekedi noted the importance of the upcoming ceremony, stating, “Our presence here signifies a commitment to peace and stability in our region. We are determined to work together for the betterment of our people.”
