On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, a project was launched in the Burera district, Cyanika sector, with the aim of assisting youth who had previously engaged in drug abuse and illegal cross-border drug trafficking.
Young people from the project area appreciate Rwanda Youth in Action Organization (RYAO) for considering them and develop a project that will help them to learn different vocations which include welding and tailoring. The targeted groups include young people who were involved in informal cross-border trade and smuggling.
This project titled‘’ Youth empowerment towards job creation’’ was officially launched by Rwanda Youth in Action Organization with the financial support from UNDP through the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) and will be for one year being implemented in Burera district.
The overall aim of the project is to improve the lives of young people in Burera District-Cyanika Sector area. And will contribute to reducing the risk of young people becoming involved in drug abuse and illegal trades. The project is also helping to raise awareness of the dangers of these activities and strengthen the capacity of local law enforcement to tackle them.
Rwanda Youth in Action Organization is concerned with community actions, which guarantee the same rights and opportunities for the future generation youth and vulnerable children, including those with disabilities from poor families, in order to maximize the full potential of everyone in the community.
