Preserving Nature through Arts and Sports: Join Rwanda’s Eco Arts Initiative
From COP28 to the World Green Cup and Green Awards
In a historic moment at COP28, Eco Arts has inked two al Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) simultaneously, emphasizing diverse collaborations for community development and sustainability. The signing ceremony took place on December 11, 2023, at Expo City Dubai – Youth Hub, attended by His Excellency Salem Yousuf Al Qaseer, the President of the United Arab Emirates-UAE Sports for All Federation. This collaboration marks an extraordinary juncture in the realms of sports culture development, environmental conservation, and artistic initiatives.
Eco Arts which has Sustainable Environmental Conservation Tournaments – SECOTO management in its duty has signed a memorandum of understanding between Creative Hub-UAE and UAE all sports federations to engage young people in environmental conservation through Eco Sports Clubs as well as assist them in developing their talent in sports and Arts and Culture exchange. This partnership focused on the four mega sports events on conservation which are the SECOTO international launch, ECO SPART CUP-UAE, Intercontinental Green Cup, and World Green Cup first edition.
Through this agreement, Teams and groups for Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Cricket, Traditional dances Comedy and Modern dances (women and men) from 167 countries, and 30 teams from Rwanda will annually participate in all the events by keeping the theme of “Engaging young people in environmental conservation for sustainable development” through Arts and Sports.
In order to continue promoting the culture of environment and tourism conservation through sports and art in Rwanda, teams, artists, dancers and clubs who wish to participate in the competition should write to ecospartcup@ecoarts.org or info@secoto.org.
The age categories are U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, U20 and U23 in five different categories. The tournament will be held on March 24-28, 2024 in the United Arab Emirates-UAE, in Sharjah city.
