Trailblazing Woman Defies Expectations in Male-Dominated Automotive Field

Gisele Coppens, a trailblazer in pursuing her dreams, has defied expectations and achieved success in a male-dominated field.
While studying computer science in high school, she realized her passion for working on cars surpassed her desire to simply drive them.
Determined to break barriers, she enrolled in the Auto Mechanic program at Kavumu Special School.
After completing her studies, Coppens secured an apprenticeship at a local garage where she honed her skills and obtained her driver’s licenses.
Through dedication and hard work, she not only learned the intricacies of auto mechanics but also gained the confidence to support herself financially.
Her perseverance paid off when she was able to purchase her own car, a testament to her determination and resilience.
Currently employed in a customer care role at a company in Rwanda, Coppens remains passionate about her work in the automotive industry.
She takes pride in her ability to assist others with their vehicles and finds joy in the satisfaction of fixing mechanical issues.
Despite facing challenges along the way, Coppens is grateful for the opportunities that have allowed her to thrive in a field she loves.
She thanks the Government of Rwanda that has spearheaded the Women’s Rights not only in Education but also on the labour Market.
Coppens eyes the future where everything will be done by her own hands and skills.
