Flanders Investment & Trade Business Forum Comes to Kigali with Belgian Companies Seeking Partnerships

KIGALI, 29 november 2024 – A delegation of 15 companies from the Flemish region in Belgium will be in Kigali from 2 to 4 December to explore economic partnerships. This is the second Belgian trade mission to Rwanda post Covid, which illustrates the enduring interest Rwanda generates as a regional hub and an attractive place to do business.

The mission starts with the high-level Flanders Investment Business Forum on Monday 2 December at the Four Points hotel in the Kigali business district. It is organized in collaboration with the Rwanda Development Board and the European Business Chamber of Rwanda. Participants include the mayor of Kigali, industry leaders, government officials and the visiting companies.

Starting at 8.30h, the forum will provide insights into the business environment and the industrial growth opportunities of Rwanda. The companies from Flanders will showcase their technological expertise and present innovative solutions in sectors like metalworking, public transport, architecture, energy and agriculture.

The plenary session will be followed by tailor-made business to business meetings, for which 100 Rwandan companies and institutions have signed up. B2B-meetings will continue throughout the visit.

On 3 December, the business delegation is meeting key international institutions present in Kigali to understand their role in funding and facilitating private sector growth in Rwanda and East Africa. In the afternoon they will visit the Rwandan ministries of Agriculture, Infrastructure, Health and the Food and Drugs Administration. On 4 December a visit to the Kigali Special Economic Zone is planned.

“The mission shows our commitment to the bilateral relationship”, commented the Head of Mission of the Belgian embassy in Kigali, Laurent Preud’homme, “It brings together two partners with a strong entrepreneurial culture and has the potential to create lasting and mutually beneficial partnerships”.
