PICTURES: Senegalese Entrepreneur Henri Ousmane Gueye Crowned Winner of the 2024 ABH Competition

Kigali, Rwanda – March 15, 2025 – In an electrifying atmosphere filled with anticipation and celebration, Henri Ousmane Gueye, Co-founder and CEO of EYONE, was announced as the winner of the prestigious Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Prize Competition during the grand finale held in Kigali, Rwanda. His triumphant moment was deeply emotional, reflecting years of hard work and dedication towards promoting innovation in Africa.

As the moderator called his name, loud cheers erupted from the audience, resonating with pride and excitement. Henri stepped forward, visibly moved, as he accepted the grand prize of $300,000. Tears of joy welled in his eyes as he embraced fellow finalists, sharing in the moment of achievement and community that the competition fosters among African entrepreneurs.

The event celebrated the Top 10 finalists, who were selected from nearly 20,000 applicants, showcasing their innovative business ideas under the theme “AI – African Innovation, Insight and Impact.” The competition featured pitches to a live audience and a distinguished judging panel, including prominent figures like Dr. Diane Karusisi, CEO of Bank of Kigali, and Ibukun Awosika, Founder of the Chair Centre.
The excitement continued as the 2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to Dr. Salma Bougarrani from Morocco for GREEN WATECH, securing $250,000, and Alexander Odhiambo from Kenya for Solutech Limited, winning $150,000. Both winners, alongside Henri, were celebrated for their commitment to impactful entrepreneurship.

The ABH Competition announced plans to host the Summit and Grand Finale in Rwanda for the next four years, reinforcing the country’s position as a hub for entrepreneurship. The event concluded with an invitation for aspiring entrepreneurs to apply for the 2025 competition, commonly referred to as a launchpad for Africa’s brightest minds.
