Rwanda Advances to Semi-Finals with 3-1 Victory Over Ghana at CAVB Women’s Championship
NAIROBI, Kenya — Rwanda’s women’s national volleyball team booked a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Ghana in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
The match, played at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, saw Rwanda take the opening set 25-17 before Ghana responded strongly to claim the second 26-24. Rwanda regained control thereafter, winning the third set 25-19 and closing out the contest 25-18 in the fourth.
The result sends Rwanda into the last four, where they will face Egypt. Ghana, eliminated from title contention, will now compete in the classification matches.
Rwanda’s players showed resilience after dropping the second set, regrouping effectively to dominate the latter stages of the encounter. The victory marks continued progress for the side in the continental tournament hosted in Kenya.
Semi-final action is scheduled for September 3, with Cameroon set to meet Kenya in the other half of the draw.
