Afreximbank: Pan-African trade fair postponed due to COVID-19

Organisers of this year’s Intra-African Trade Fair has announced that the event which initially scheduled to take place in Rwanda in September, has been postponed to next year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The event, co-organised by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the African Union (AU) and the Rwandan government, in a statement released by Rwandan Ministry of Trade and Industry on Wednesday said the fair will now come up on September 6-12, 2021, in Kigali, to ensure the safety of the host country and the participants.

The organisers had said the second edition of the biennial trade fair, aimed at boosting the intra-African trade will target the execution of intra-African trade deals worth more than $40 billion.

In partnership with Afreximbank and the AU Commission, Rwanda is looking forward to the second trade fair in 2021 to boost intra-African trade, Rwandan Minister of Trade and Industry, Soraya Hakuziyaremye, said in the statement.

The first Intra-African Trade Fair was held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in 2018. (Xinhua)
