Burundi and Rwanda are moving forward

On Wednesday, September 8, 2021, the President of the Senate of Rwanda Dr Iyamuremye Augustin and the President of the Senate of Burundi, Hon Sinzohagera Emmanuel held a meeting on cooperation between the two senators.

Dr. Iyamuremye Augustin and the group he led met with Hon. Sinzohagera Emmanuel at the side-line of the 5th World Parliamentary Summit in Vienna, Austria / Austria.

It is a two-day meeting held on Tuesday, September 7-8, 2021.

According to the Twitter handle of the Rwandan Parliament, the President of the Senate of Rwanda, Dr Iyamuremye Augustin, met with the President of the Senate of Burundi, Sinzohagera Emmanuel and welcomed the willingness and progress made in improving relations between the two countries.

“The Presidents of the Senate of the two countries, Rwanda and Burundi are determined to support the governments of the two countries in their willingness to resolve issues that threaten the relations between the two countries,” Read a message posted on Twitter.

Political analysts find that Rwanda has already opened its doors to Burundi because it wants to get along well with its neighbours.

Although not widely reported, President Paul Kagame this week was hailed as the head of state who attended the Volleyball game between Burundi and Rwanda.

President Kagame was seen greeting the fans at Kigali Arena where the game was held and it was clear to all that he was happy with the two teams that were playing.

On the other hand, the President of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye has for some time stated that Burundi and Rwanda want to turn the page and overcome the bad relations that have been emerging between the two countries.
