Technopreneurs Snake Nation and All-Africa Students Union Launch Africa 4.0 Music + Tech + Gaming Tour for Creative Millennials
Johannesburg, 28 July 2022- Snake Nation app – a social-media platform focused on getting creative African millennials into the Creative Economy, where they can own, create and monetise their own content across various creative genres – is planning an African revolution as the company takes its show on the road to youth across Africa.
African creative millennials will be able to tap into the Snake Nation app via the IOS app store and Google play store and SnakeNation.io on their mobile devices and join the continent’s creatives virtually or in person in music, fashion, tech, art, gaming and other creative spheres, as Snake Nation, in conjunction with the All-Africa Students Union (AASU), heads for a number of African countries with its Africa 4.0 Music + Tech + Gaming Tour.
The Africa 4.0 Tour is designed to ignite the talent inherent in Africa’s creatives by unleashing the digital technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) and empowering young Africans with the information to become leaders, content creators and owners in the global creative economy – thereby also unlocking the monetization of these economies for their own benefit via a crypto-currency called VNM (Venom) built into the Snake Nation app.
The Africa 4.0 Tour series of events will be rolled out across a number of countries covering all regional African economic communities with South Africa, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Morocco, Cameroon, Tanzania and Zambia slated for the tour.
The 10-country tour will comprise a number of live events in each country involving campus activations at 80 universities, hackathons, tech talks, expos for music, tech and gaming, pitching sessions, digital and creative skill training as well as esports tournaments like ‘Call of Duty & NBA2k’, estimated to reach 8-million students.
The Music component will draw the hottest artists on the continent and the African Diaspora in Afrobeat, Hip Hop, Amapiano and more to one stage. This will also be a great platform for dope local artists representing the vibe and culture of each country.
In the Tech Arena, the Tour will showcase tech for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) including the Snake Nation app and how it interconnects the creative economy across the continent. The Tech pillar will touch every cultural facet as well as allow virtual and real-world delegates to deep-dive into cutting edge topics, hacks and tech talks.
“The future for Africa is 4.0,” says Snake Nation Founder, Karl Carter: “We hear people talk about the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we will demystify 4IR for young African creatives and technologists. Making use of our community in universities and amongst creatives with Top African Music Artists, Gaming Tournaments and TED Style Tech talks & hackathons, we are activating a network of the brightest minds and creative souls to lead us into Africa 4.0. This will be key in addressing youth unemployment and enterprise development. We are so excited to be partnered with the All-Africa Students Union to bring this experience and the Snake Nation App to young Africans across the
continent.”
Snake Nation has partnered with All-Africa Students Union (AASU) on 2800 University campuses in 54 African countries and the partnership is working directly with all the student unions across the continent to empower and equip students with the necessary skills for 4th IR.
“For us at AASU, we see the Africa 4.0 project as a means to propel youth employment and entrepreneurship among youth and students in Africa. Youth employment and entrepreneurship remain crucial components for socio- economic development that can be utilized to address poverty and socio- economic disparities within the African continent,” says Peter Kwasi Kodjie, Secretary General of the AASU.
“For AASU, we see the need for Africa’s millennials to be empowered such that they are prepared to overcome the technology skills shortages and competencies through transformative entrepreneurship and innovation. AASU is thus excited to be partnering with Snake Nation to empower students on various campuses across Africa.”
The expo component of the Africa 4.0 Tour offers companies an opportunity to showcase their products and services at the Africa 4.0 / 50th Celebration of AASU which is the largest student and youth gathering on the African Continent.
“This is a huge opportunity for partners that want to impact young Africans at scale and make a difference in their lives. They can join us in bringing Africa 4.0 to their country,” says Karl, inviting prospective exhibitors, sponsors and key stakeholders in the strategic markets of Africa to collaborate and partner with the Tour by emailing him at: africa4.0@snakenation.co
