Rwanda Senate Plenary Sitting Declares the Office of the President of Senate vacant
On 9 December 2022, the plenary sitting of the Senate of Rwanda approved the resignation of Dr. Iyamuremye Augustin from the position of the President of the Senate and as a Senator.
Dr. Iyamuremye Augustin announced that he was resigning due to health reasons.
The plenary sitting declared the Office of the President of the Senate vacant by an absolute majority vote of the Senators present in a Plenary Sitting.
The Vice-President of the Senate in charge of Parliamentary Affairs, Hon. Nyirasafari Espeěrance, will serve in the interim until a new President of the Senate is elected.
