Rwandans and Burundians from different forms of arts and culture, have joined forces to organize a cultural event called ‘Kaze Rugamba’ to celebrate the unity of Rwandans and Burundians.
This is the first time for such concert to be held in Rwanda.
In 2008, a concert like this brought together Burundi’s Abagumyabanga and Rwanda’ Inganzo Ngari Cultural troop, which took place at the Odeon Palace in the city of Bujumbura in Burundi.
This time it will be on Friday, February 10, 2023 at a place known as KIE in Kigali.
The event was organized by the theater artist and poet, Kalisa Rugano, the Director of Iteka Youth Organization, Yannick Niyonzima and others.
Kalisa Rugano has been in Burundi for 35 years, where he has worked on various activities related to the culture Industry.
In an interview with the media on Monday, February 6, 2023, which took place at Kaso in Kiyovu, Rugano said that he and his colleagues thought of organizing this event in order to show the ‘unity of Rwandans and Burundians’.
Rugano says that this is a preview of other artistic activities including performances that will be held this year, among them there is a game called “Mu Twicarabami twa Nyaruteja”.
This game will be played between Rwandans and Burundians.
Rugano says that if Rwandans and Burundians are able to meet in this game ‘it would be a sign of principled peace, of prevailing peace in our countries’.
