Rwanda FA President resigns
Olivier Nizeyimana, the current head of Rwanda Football has stepped down from this position due to personal reasons.
According to the April 19th 2023 letter addressed to the members of Rwanda Football association, Olivier asserted that “I have decided to resign from being the president of Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) due to strong personal issues that couldn’t allow me to fulfill the duties of which you entrusted to me.”
Olivier’s resignation does not come as a big surprise to Rwandan sports fans as there have been rumors, in sports shows on radios and TVs, that he might resign from these duties due to the poor relationship between him and the general secretary of this federation.
He led FERWAFA from June 2021 after being elected as a single candidate to this position. At that time, he replaced the former president Rtd Brig Gen Sekamana Damascène, who had also resigned from this role in April.
