Minister Mujawamariya to speak at this year (2023) IUCN Leaders Forum
Rwanda’s Minister of Environment Dr. Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya will speak at this year (2023) IUCN Leaders Forum which will take place in in Geneva, Switzerland and virtually from 11 to 13 October 2023.
Minister Mujawamariya will speak alongside other speakers including IUCN President Razan Al Mubarak, Bertrand Piccard, Chairman at Solar Impulse Foundation, Emmanuel Faber, Chair at the International Sustainability Standards Board among others.
The second edition of the IUCN Leaders Forum theme is about “Global goals for nature: Tracking progress, financing success.”
It will be attended by global leaders and changemakers from across sectors to discuss the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
It is also an opportunity for participants to:
- Network with government, civil society and private sector leaders and changemakers.
- Showcase leadership by making measurable commitments to implement the global goals for nature.
- Build collaboration with global leaders and changemakers to strengthen collective action for nature and climate priorities.
Global goals to protect and restore nature were agreed at the recent COP15 of the Convention on Biological Diversity in Montreal. The IUCN Leaders Forum will enable participants from different stakeholder groups to discuss the ‘what’ and ‘how’ in order to achieve these goals, and help mobilise relevant groups into action.
In addition, the Leaders Forum will offer a platform to agree on measuring, monitoring and reporting, and to tackle critical questions around financing the global goals for nature, with a view to helping governments and the private sector to fulfil their obligations.
