Don Bosco IFAK-Kimihurura , a renowned educational institution known for its commitment to fostering quality education, has been chosen as a pilot participant in the prestigious Generation Global program established by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

On Thursday, 26 October 2023, the education leaders associated with the Generation Global program, established by Tony Blair, paid a visit to IFAKDONBOSCO Kimihurura with the objective of enrolling senior two and senior five students into this project’s system.

IFAK Don Bosco takes pride in being one of the ten schools in Rwanda chosen for the pilot phase of this program. Currently, 253 young individuals and 91 educators from Rwanda are already actively participating.

Generation Global is the Tony Blair Institute’s global citizenship education programme for young people ages 13 to 17 that enable them to embrace the future, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become active and open-minded global citizens.

It aims to equip young people with the skills necessary to navigate an increasingly interconnected and diverse world. Through facilitated online dialogue, students engage in conversations with their peers from different cultures, developing empathy, communication skills, and a deep appreciation for global perspectives.

Rev. Father Jean Bosco Ntirenganya, the principal of IFAK Don Bosco, expressed his gratitude for the institution’s selection, saying, “We are honored to be part of the Generation Global program. Our students will benefit immensely from the opportunities this initiative provides, helping them become global citizens who can make a positive impact on our interconnected world.”

Participation in the Generation Global program will enable IFAK Don Bosco’s students to engage in meaningful cross-cultural conversations, facilitating the development of essential skills, such as effective communication, critical thinking, and intercultural competence. These skills will prepare them to contribute positively to a world that increasingly values global perspectives and cooperation.
