Madison Marsh, a 22-year-old Air Force officer from the United States, was crowned Miss America 2024 on Sunday. Madison, a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force and master’s student in the public policy program at Harvard Kennedy School, won the beauty pageant in Orlando, Florida. Madison Marsh won the Miss America pageant after defeating 51 contestants from the 50 states and the District of Columbia. While Madison was crowned Miss America, Ellie Breaux finished first, Cydney Bridges of Indiana finished second, Mallory Hudson of Kentucky finished third, and Caroline Parente of Rhode Island finished fourth. Meanwhile, Grace Stanke of Wisconsin, Miss America 2023, crowned Madison at the event.
Madison was reportedly asked about her goals as Miss America during the questionnaire round. Miss America responded by emphasizing her military experience as an example of her commitment to learning and leading “with passion.” During the discussion, she also mentioned her mother, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2018. Madison was inspired by her death to establish the Whitney Marsh Foundation, which raises funds for cancer research.
Meanwhile, Madison crowned Miss Colorado last year. She graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 2023. The Miss America winner is attending Harvard Kennedy School for a master’s degree in public policy. “Congratulations to our very own Airman, 2nd Lt Madison Marsh, aka Miss Colorado — who was just crowned Miss America 2024!” the US Air Force said on X. Marsh, as Miss America, will receive a $60,000 scholarship and the opportunity to travel the country as the brand’s ambassador, according to competition’s website.
