Tumi Morake Takes the Stage: Girls Aloud Comedy Special Comes to Kenya

NairobiKenya, March 7th, 2024… Top South African female comedian, actress, TV personality, and writer, Tumi Morake is lined up to perform in Kenya at a groundbreaking women’s only comedy special, titled ‘Girls Aloud,’ hosted by Punchline Comedy Club and Gilbey’s Gin in celebration of International Women’s Month. 

The event will take place at a gala night on Saturday 9th March at the Louis Leakey Auditorium, Museum Hill, followed by a matinee at Two Grapes, Wine and Friends in Kilimani on Sunday 10th March.

Tumi will share the stage with four stand-up female comedians from Kenya including Ciru Mwangi, Nelly Wangechi, Shazz Nderitu, and Mama Ngina. In addition, the evening will play host to the sensational Tanzanian comic, Neyla Manga who’s distinctive blend of humour and wit have captivated audiences across Africa.

Gilbey’s and Punchline Comedy Club have enjoyed a successful partnership since the start of the year, with a free weekly comedy night every Wednesday, as well as two sold-out specials.

Globally renowned for her unique and quick-witted comedic style, she made history in 2018 as the first African woman to feature in her own Netflix special. Additionally, she holds the distinction of being the inaugural female host of ‘Comedy Central Presents’ in Africa.

As part of Gilbey’s ongoing efforts to enhance the entertainment landscape and empower women in the industry, ‘Girls Aloud’ promises to deliver an unforgettable evening of laughter and celebration.
