Inyange Milk Powder Plant Officially Opened in Rwanda

Rwanda’s Prime Minister, Dr Ngirente Edouard, inaugurated the Inyange Milk Powder Plant in Nyagatare District, with a processing capacity of 650 thousand liters of milk per day. The factory, situated in the Industrial zone in Rutaraka, Nyagatare Sector, was opened on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Accompanied by government officials, Inyange Industries workers, and others involved in milk processing, Dr Edouard Ngirente toured the factory after its inauguration. He was briefed on the various components of the powdered milk factory, from milk reception to powder production and packaging.

The construction of the factory began in 2021 and cost $54 million, providing employment for 270 permanent workers and others in the dairy processing chain. The facility is expected to source milk from farmers in Eastern Province, including Nyagatare, Gatsibo, Kayonza, Kirehe, and Gicumbi.

Inyange Industries decided to build the plant due to the increase of milk in the country and the growing demand for milk products. The volume of milk in Nyagatare District alone has tripled in the past seven years. Inyange Industries Ltd, which also processes soft drinks, has injected approximately $100 million in Rwanda’s economy annually.
