Dr Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya dismissed from the cabinet

The Minister of Public Service and Labor, Dr Jeanne D’Arc Mujawamariya has been dismissed from her position on this Thursday, July 25, 2024.
The statement issued by the Prime Minister, says that the dismissal of Mujawamaria who was the Minister of Environment before being appointed as Minister of Labour is related to issues of accountability which are under investigation.
Born in 1970, Mujawamaria was appointed Minister of Public Service and Labour in June after five years as Minister of Environment. She had been the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion (2008-2011); Minister of Education (2006-2008), Minister of State for Higher Education (2005-2006) and Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education (2003-2005).
She had represented Rwanda in Russia and Belarus as Ambassador from 2013 to 2019 and was the Director of the former Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) between 2011 and 2013.
Mujawamariya earned a Bachelor of Science from the People’s Friendship University of Russia and in 1997 received a Master of Science in Chemistry from the same university. She went on to earn a PhD in Physical Chemistry/Electochemistry Heavy Metals Polymer Membranes at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in 2001.
Dr Mujawamariya fluently speaks Kinyarwanda, French, English, Russian, and Swahili.
