The Albertine Rift Conservation Society (ARCOS-Network) is marking a major milestone in its mission to safeguard nature and empower communities. This year, ARCOS proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary, recognizing three decades of impactful work in conservation, environmental restoration, and sustainable development.
In a Video posted on Social Media, Dr. Sam Kanyamibwa, founder and CEO of ARCOS, expressed his gratitude for the dedication and commitment that have fueled the organization’s success.
“This has been a wonderful journey, and it was not possible without your dedication and commitment,” he stated.
“This year, we are celebrating the achievements in conservation impact, empowering communities, restoring ecosystems, and shaping a sustainable future.”
Founded in 1995 ARCOS’s work focuses on fostering collaboration at local, regional, and international levels to create lasting environmental solutions.

As the organization commemorates this milestone, Dr. Kanyamibwa also calls on supporters, partners, and environmental advocates to reflect on the future.
“This celebration is also a time to think about the future—where your efforts, determination, and collaboration for nature and people will continue to shape a sustainable future,” he urged.
With threats such as climate change, deforestation, and biodiversity loss increasingly pressing, ARCOS remains dedicated to expanding its efforts and inspiring more people to take action for the planet.
The celebrations will highlight ARCOS’ successes over the years and serve as a platform for discussions on the next steps towards a greener, healthier world.
It is both a time to honor past achievements and to encourage ongoing and future conservation initiatives.
Happy 30th anniversary, ARCOS!
