RTB to Award Over 2,100 New Scholarships for 2025/2026 School Year

The Rwanda TVET Board (RTB) in partnership with the German Government through KfW Development Bank, is going to expand the TVET Scholarship Programme, an initiative that reaffirms Rwanda’s commitment to equitable access to quality technical and vocational education, particularly for youth from low-income families.
The TVET Scholarship Programme was launched in 2023. It currently supports 1803 nationawide. For the 2025/2026 school year, 2,197 new students will receive scholarships, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 4,000 and meeting the programme’s original target.
“This investment will help build a skilled workforce aligned with labour market needs”, read part of RTB’s announcement.
The scholarship covers tuition and related costs for high-performing students from disadvantaged households who have completed O’ Level and are enrolling in Level 3 at selected Technical Secondary Schools (TSS).
Beneficiaries will be chosen by the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) based on academic performance and socio-economic status.
The scholarship supports technical education in 14 programmes including agriculture, animal health, manufacturing technology, electrical technology, renewable energy, wood technology, leather technology, among others.
This project is being implemented in 46 Technical Secondary Schools across the country.
