MPs to assess urban development, housing, and land use during nationwide citizens’ outreach.

Members of the Chamber of Deputies organise nationwide field visits to assess the implementation of government programmes in urban development, housing, and land use management. The visits will take place from November 24 to 29, 2025, across all provinces, and will continue in the City of Kigali from December 5 to 6, 2025.
The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Gertrude Kazarwa, highlighted the importance of the exercise, noting: “Through these field visits, Parliament reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that urban development, housing, and land use initiatives truly respond to the needs of our citizens. Listening directly to communities allows us to strengthen oversight and support government programmes that deliver tangible and sustainable impact.”
Throughout the exercise, Members of Parliament will visit 237 sectors to review ongoing projects, identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, and hold discussions with district and sector authorities.
MPs will also engage with citizens and local leaders to encourage settlement in planned and safe areas and to promote active participation in maintaining public infrastructure.
In addition, Parliamentarians will join residents in the monthly community work, Umuganda, reaffirming Parliament’s commitment to citizen-centred development and fostering clean, safe, and well-organised neighbourhoods.
