Celebrating Excellence: ICK Alumnus Jean-Maurice Uwera Appointed Rwanda’s Deputy Government Spokesperson

The Catholic Institute of Kabgayi (ICK) is immensely celebrating that one of its distinguished alumni, Jean-Maurice Uwera, has been appointed as the new Deputy Spokesperson for the Government of Rwanda. This prestigious appointment was made during the cabinet meeting chaired by His Excellency President Paul Kagame on Wednesday, January 28.

Mr. Uwera holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Communication Studies from the Catholic Institute of Kabgayi, a qualification that launched his dynamic career in the media sector starting in 2011.

As a national media leader with over 14 years of experience in broadcasting and public communication, Mr. Uwera brings an in-depth understanding of Rwanda’s media landscape and government relations to his new role. His professional journey serves as an inspiration to current and future ICK students, showcasing the heights our graduates can reach. His impressive track record includes:

• Serving as the Executive Director of 93.9 SK FM, where he led strategic editorial direction.
• Holding key roles at the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA) as a station manager at Magic FM and a senior presenter.
• Working as a production manager at Flash FM and TV.

Mr. Uwera steps into this role following the tenure of the late Alain Mukuralinda.
