Rwanda Sparks a New Era of Peace as Former Fighters Rise as Ambassadors of Stability and Hope

Rwanda in collaboration with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), marked the successful completion of a rehabilitation and reintegration program for former fighters at the Mutobo Demobilization and Reintegration Center as remarkable step toward sustainable peace and regional stability.

The ceremony brought together key leaders, including Governor Mugabowagahunde Maurice and District Mayor Nsengimana Claudien, alongside officials from the DRC, symbolizing a shared commitment to lasting peace across borders.

The celebration highlighted the transformation of former combatants, many of whom had once been part of armed groups such as the FDLR. Through structured training focused on civic responsibility, peacebuilding, and livelihood development, these individuals have undergone a profound personal journey shifting from lives defined by conflict to ones guided by purpose, responsibility, and hope.

Before the official ceremony, guests were taken through an exhibition that showcased the achievements of previously reintegrated individuals. The display highlighted practical success stories, including vocational skills development, entrepreneurship initiatives, and community participation.
