OIF Secretary General Mushikiwabo Meets Cardinal Kambanda to Strengthen African Education Partnership

Paris, July 7, 2026 — Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), received Cardinal Antoine Kambanda, Grand Chancellor of the Institut Pacte Éducatif Africain (IPEA), for high-level discussions on bolstering education across Francophone Africa.
The meeting focused on deepening cooperation between IPEA — a Catholic Church-linked network spanning more than 150,000 educational establishments continent-wide — and the OIF’s Institut de la Francophonie pour l’Éducation et la Formation (IFEF).
Officials explored ways to expand technical support to national education networks, aiming for lasting improvements in teaching quality and access
The partnership aligns with the OIF’s core mission to promote French-language education, cultural diversity, and sustainable development among its 90 member states and governments.
With French serving millions of learners across Africa, such collaborations are seen as critical for addressing educational challenges while leveraging faith-based networks’ extensive reach on the ground.
