2019-2020, President Kagame’s investment in National Security yields Positive Outcomes

Although the COVID 19 pandemic has disrupted the Rwandan economy in 2020, on the other hand, President Kagame’s investment in national security in 2020 has yielded positive results both in Rwanda and internationally.

President Paul Kagame is the Commander In-Chief of Rwanda Armed Forces.

There have been times when Rwanda has been under attack from insurgents from all four sides of the Rwandan borders.

Rwandans have continued to be comforted by the country’s top security agencies and were regularly urged to be vigilant and provide timely information on where they suspect security threats throughout Rwanda and even at the international level.

In previous addresses, President Kagame had said that if necessary, the military and national security budgets would be increased to make sure that wherever there is a threat to the national security be dealt with.

There is no doubt that this has come true because in 2020 Rwanda has done a lot of important and unquestionable things for everyone to protect its sovereignty.

In the course of the operation, there is no doubt that a lot of Rwandans who had been threatening national security were arrested, and most of them were extradited to Rwanda to face justice.

People have been talking about the circumstances in which Paul Rusesabagina, the suspected notorious sponsor of terrorism activities on Rwanda since his arrest and his deportation to Rwanda was taken as a miracle since none of ordinary citizen had knew that a man like Rusesabagina can be arrested and extradited to this small central African country.

Saying that Rwanda can’t do that would be a mistake because even Rusesabagina found himself in Rwanda without knowing what had happened.

The Minister of Justice of Rwanda recently told the petitioners on the Rusesabagina case that he had been arrested in accordance with International law and that he had a criminal record to respond to.

Among other actions, on January 17, 2020, the Rwanda Investigation Bureau paraded to media Herman Nsengimana, a successor to Nsabimana Callixte ‘Sankara’ as Spokesperson for the FLN forces (Force de Libération Nationale) whose activities have caused harms to Rwanda both physical and psychological way.

Nsengimana, who had been given the rank of captain, was one of 291 FLN fighters extradited to Rwanda in December 2019 by the DRC’s Armed Forces after capturing them through attacks on militants operating on the country’s territory that began shortly after President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshombwa took power.

Not to mention the self-proclaimed Major General Callixte Sankara who had tortured Rwanda through his messages on Social media and continued to campaign heavily for terrorist acts in Rwanda.

Between 2019 and 2020, many FDLR leaders died and many others were captured, and many were unaware of what had just happened after finding themselves in the hands of the Rwandan security services.

Although much has been said, Kabuga Felicien, who has been wanted for 26 years, has also been captured in 2020, although he has not been extradited to Rwanda.

Rwanda puts a lot of effort into safeguarding the security of its people and the sovereignty of the country as a whole and where necessary Rwanda contributes to other parts of the world where security is needed to be restored.

We conclude by wishing a Happy New Year 2020, to the President of Rwanda, the Rwandan Armed Forces, all other national security agencies and to all Rwandans wherever they are during this festive season.
