Rwanda: Over 280,000 condoms distributed to Expo attendees

With two days to go before the end of the International Exhibition in Gikondo in Kigali City, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has announced that it has already distributed more than 281,000 condoms to Expo attendees.

The condoms that are being offered at the fair are part of the AHF’s program to help fight the AIDS that kills so many people, especially on the African continent.

Officials from AHF said they went to the Expo to help the country achieve the UN’s goal of eradicating AIDS, which had set a target of 90% reduction by 2020.

Official said that as of Monday, December 28, 2020, they had already provided 281,329 condoms and 1732 HIV testing equipment at the Expo.

The co-ordinator of the HIV / AIDS Program in the Private Sector Federation, PSF, Rusanganwa Léon Pierre, said that partnering with AHF to provide condoms and testing at the Expo, is that they need to boost the national economy based on a healthy lifestyle.

He said no development would be achieved in a country with people who are always sick. “It is important to take care of the infectious and non-infectious diseases in the PSF because when we have problems with the private sector and people are killed or afflicted with these diseases, the country loses because they do not work.”
