Burundi: Six members of the same family have been killed by unknown assailants
In neighboring Burundi, in Karusi province, in the Buhiga area, unidentified assailants stormed the home of Mpfayokurera Donatien, a former police officer in Burundi, and killed him and his entire family. ‘Four children and his wife, Kabanyiginya Virginie, were all stabbed to death.
The head of household, Donatien Mpfayokurera was a retired policeman. The at least 55-year-old man and his wife Virginie Kabanyiginya along with their two daughters and boys were murdered around 11 p.m., residents said.
Information began circulating at around 10 a.m. on Monday when neighbors became concerned after seeing that they were not showing any signs of life and that their house remained closed.
Jean Bosco Bigirimana, chef de Colline indicates that the perpetrators and the motive of the crime remain unknown.
Neighbors of the decimated family also say they ignore the cause of “barbarism”, insisting that the family coexisted well with those around them.
Three individuals were arrested, according to witnesses.
