Rwanda sets to release its report on France’s role in the Genocide against Tutsi

Rwanda is set to release a report on France’s role in the April 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.

Sources confirm that the report will be released on Monday, April 19, 2021.

The report is set to be released after another report that was released by France on March 26, 2021.

Named Duclert’s report, it points out that France has played a “significant and incomparable role” in Rwanda’s history, leading to the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis.

When Duclert’s report was released, the Rwandan government said it had received it well and that it was a “significant step” in understanding France’s role in the Genocide against the Tutsi.

According to sources, the 2017 report which was compiled on the request of the Government of Rwanda will also be published in the coming weeks. The results are expected to broaden those of the Duclert Commission.

On April 7, 2021, when President Paul Kagame officially launched the commemoration of the 27th commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi, he said that Rwanda is also set to release its report on France’s role in the Genocide against Tutsi and that report will complement the Duclert’s in order to establish the historical truth.

The publication of these documents is expected to help many to know the truth about the Genocide against the Tutsi and the role played by the former French leaders through the assistance they provided to the Juvenal Habyarimana government that organized and implemented the Genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda.
