PHOTOS: Situation in Rubavu: Life paralyzed by repeated tremors triggered by Nyiragongo Eruption
It’s a quiet morning in Gisenyi town. Life in Rubavu District which borders DRC’s Goma has been paralyzed by repeated tremors triggered by Nyiragongo Eruption. Schools, markets and banks closed while patients in Gisenyi main hospital have been evacuated to Musanze District far away from Rubavu.
As reported so far 651 Congolese who were affected by the volcanic eruption of Nyiragongo and the ensuing earthquakes have been received in Busasamana Sector in Rubavu District where the Rwandan authorities are providing them with humanitarian assistance.
Public houses, roads and other infrastructure are being damaged as the quake continues to occur.
Earthquakes are heard as far as the city of Kigali, although there is no such magnitude as in Rubavu and Goma.
