New COVID 19 Delta Variant reaches Rwanda, Health Minister warns

Rwanda’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ngamije Daniel has warned that there is irrefutable evidence that a new COVID-19 ‘Delta Variant’ has arrived in Rwanda.
He made the declaration on Radio Rwanda on Thursday evening, July 8, 2021.
Dr. Ngamije said this is one of the reasons for the rapid increase in Covid-19 cases in the country.
He said that when a person is not vaccinated and is exposed to other chronic diseases, this new variant kills him quickly.
Symptoms of COVID-19 infection include severe headache, severe fatigue, and difficulty breathing among other signs.
The delta variant was declared a “variant of concern” by the World Health Organization in May.
The designation is used when there is increased evidence that a variant is more transmissible, causes more severe illness or reduces the effectiveness of vaccines or treatments.
