Meet the Third ESP Africa Conference key speakers

The Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) in partnership with the Ministry of Environment of Rwanda and IUCN in Rwanda are hosting the third ESP Africa Regional conference, which will take place in Musanze from 8-10 June 2022 and expect to host at least 300 people.

The conference theme is ‘Ecosystem services for the future: Delivering value for Nature, Livelihoods and Economic Investment’.

Ecosystem Services are crucial worldwide given that we already experience the negative impact of climate change and widespread land degradation, and the situation is projected to worsen. Proper management and restoration of ecosystems and essential ecosystem services is paramount to deal with these dramatic environmental changes affecting the lives and livelihoods of millions of people.

This conference will be an opportunity to enhance collaboration between scientists, professionals and policy makers from Africa and across the world to share experiences and best practices around the importance of ecosystem services for the transition to sustainable economies and natural capital accounting.

The conference will also be an opportunity for Rwanda and other African countries to showcases the great work already accomplished and ambitious programmes to enhance nature capacity to deliver ecosystem services and enhance economic development.

The ESP Regional Conferences offers a unique opportunity for Rwandan scientists to share experiences with the ecosystem service community within the region. This way, regional networks can be strengthened and local participation is highly encouraged.
