Rising sensation M3lon dedicates a new single to African music legend Awilo Logomba
Awilo Logomba’s music transcended national boundaries, dominated speakers in several countries, and served as the soundtrack for the 2000s for countless African music enthusiasts.
Decades after his hit album ‘Coupé Bibamba’ became a household hit on the continent, Awilo’s music continues to inspire new generations of African artists.
The newest artist to draw inspiration from Awilo Logomba is M3lon, a rising star in the music industry who named a song after the renowned African hitmaker on November 24, 2023.
Aside from naming his song after the Congolese legend, M3lon also recreated one of Awilo’s iconic cover art.
African music legend Awilo Logomba responded to the tribute, which he graciously acknowledged, in a post on his Instagram account.
“Power to the young people,” Awilo posted on Instagram, as he celebrates a new generation of artists who draw inspiration from his work.
There are other tributes to Awilo in the Nigerian music scene in 2023 besides M3lon’s. One of Awilo’s hits was sampled by amazing singer Ayra Starr in her hit song “Sability” earlier this year.
