Rwanda Denies Link to Man Claiming to Be National Police Agent

A man named Jonathan Scott filed a complaint with the US Department of Justice under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) claiming to be a Rwanda National Police agent, but Rwanda has denied any involvement.

“Rwanda National Police (RNP) has taken note of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) registration filed with the U.S. Department of Justice on 27 December 2023 by an individual named Jonathan Scott, claiming to be ‘Foreign agent’ working with RNP on cybersecurity.” Rwanda National Police said in a statement on Saturday.

RNP added, “Rwanda National Police has no relationship whatsoever with Jonathan Scott, and the individual listed as point of contact in the registration is not employed by RNP.”

“Appropriate steps are being taken to ensure the withdrawal of this registration, which has no foundation,” reads the statement.
