Strengthening Ties: Rwanda and Qatar Forge New Paths in Internal Security
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Vincent Biruta, and the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in Charge of Operations, Vincent Sano, are in Doha for Milipol Qatar 2024′, a global exhibition and conference for homeland security and safety.
On Tuesday, October 29, Minister Biruta met with Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander Lekhwiya, Qatar’s Internal Security Force, H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
They reviewed Rwanda’s and Qatar’s bilateral cooperation in matters of internal security and discussed ways to further strengthen ties.
They also witnessed the signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Lekhwiya to solidify the existing cooperation and mutual interests between the two countries.
DIGP Sano and Major General Hamad Hassan Al Sulait signed on behalf of the two institutions.
The agreement lays a path for the RNP and Lekhwiya to exchange experiences on operational applications and training for internal security systems.
The two parties committed to further provide mutual support and to learn more about the latest technologies.
The agreement opens more channels for deeper cooperation and mutual support in tackling emerging security challenges.
