Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk in Shock Over Failed Drug Test

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk expressed disbelief after testing positive for a banned substance during a routine Football Association (FA) drug test. The club announced it was notified of the “adverse finding” in the 23-year-old Ukrainian international’s urine sample.

Mudryk strongly denies knowingly using banned substances, stating on Instagram, “This has come as a complete shock… I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon.” Chelsea has pledged to investigate the matter.

Under FA rules, players testing positive for banned substances can face provisional suspensions, though the FA declined to confirm if Mudryk has been suspended or when the test occurred. FIFA regulations impose bans of up to four years for deliberate violations.

Mudryk, who joined Chelsea in 2023 from Shakhtar Donetsk for up to £89 million, has missed recent matches, including five consecutive games. While initially described as sidelined due to illness by head coach Enzo Maresca, Mudryk’s absence now raises further questions.

The winger has scored 10 goals in 73 appearances for Chelsea. Meanwhile, the Professional Footballers’ Association is expected to support Mudryk during this challenging time.

Chelsea continues to stand by their player as investigations unfold.
