The government of Rwanda stands with families of 20 people died in a tragic road accident

The government of Rwanda has expressed its condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in a tragic bus accident that claimed 20 lives and left others injured in Rusiga Sector, Rulindo District.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. It involved a large bus from the International Express company, traveling from Kigali City to Musanze City, which is reported to have been carrying about 52 passengers.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office on February 11, 2025, revealed that the injured were immediately taken to various hospitals where they are receiving medical care.
“The government is providing the necessary support to the families who lost their loved ones and to those injured in this accident”, reads the statement.
Rwanda National Police Spokesperson, ACP Rutikanga Boniface, told the media that the vehicle veered off the road and fell into a ravine about 800 meters from the road.
The government of Rwanda has reminded drivers to adhere to road laws and regulations governing road usage to prevent accidents that endanger people’s lives.
