Mogadishu, Somalia, June 16, 2025-The Minister of Commerce of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Mahmoud Ahmed Adan Geesood, today held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Somalia, Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al-Mawlid.
The meeting took place at the Saudi Embassy in Mogadishu.
The discussions focused on strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. They also talked about increasing the export of Somali livestock and other local products.
Other topics discussed during the meeting included attracting Saudi investment in infrastructure development, facilitating business visas for traders, and enhancing bilateral trade relations.
Somalia is one of the leading countries in livestock trade.
Although for many years Somalia’s livestock market — particularly with Saudi Arabia — faced disruptions due to the country’s collapse, ongoing conflict, and lack of a functioning government, Somalia now appears to be regaining its international trade relations.
The export of Somali livestock and other local products is contributing to the improvement of the country’s economic infrastructure.
