RSSB Completes Construction of New, Modern SOS Rwanda Village in Kinyinya

The Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) announced that the construction work for the relocation site of the SOS Rwanda Village, which was previously in Kacyiru, has been completed.

The SOS Rwanda Village, currently located in Gasabo District, Kacyiru Sector, is set to be relocated due to a large-scale RSSB project aimed at expanding infrastructure near the Kigali International Golf Course. It is planned that vision-driven infrastructure, including modern hotels, will be developed nearby. This led to the relocation of residents and other facilities in that area.

The new SOS Rwanda Village was built in Kinyinya Sector, Gasabo District. It is a modern and environmentally friendly village, including recreational facilities like football, basketball, and volleyball courts, homes for the children supported by SOS, a nursery/crèche for the young ones, a house for the retired SOS mothers/caregivers, offices, conference rooms, and more.

On March 2, 2026, the leadership of RSSB and the City of Kigali visited the village to assess the progress of the construction work. It was noted that the construction materials used were mainly sourced locally in Rwanda, and the village was built by the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF).

Construction began in November 2024 and was scheduled for 14 months, but it has now reached 100% completion.

The project manager at Gasabo3D Company, Eng. Niyonzima Jean Claude, indicated that the village was well-built and suitable for an organization like SOS, which helps children.

He said, “These are beautiful houses, very suitable for children to live in, as well as for the usual activities of SOS… The place we built is beautiful; it’s a secluded center. It’s a less-populated area, which is fitting for a center like SOS.”

The Public Relations Officer at RSSB, Magwene Ivan Yvan, explained that the village aligns with the National Vision and that RSSB will continue to expand its investments near the Golf Course.

He added, “As you can see, the works are 100% complete; what remains is the official inauguration. Construction started in November 2024; looking at it, it is one of the fast-tracked construction projects.”

He continued, “It is a project we are very pleased with due to its location, the way it was constructed, and how it was managed, as it is a model among projects, we could say it was greatly fast-tracked. RSSB plans to undertake investments near the Kigali International Golf Course aimed at transforming the City of Kigali in line with the National Vision.”
