Team Europe Delegation Visit Highlights Commitment to Youth Empowerment and Health in Musanze

Musanze District has taken a significant step in deepening international cooperation by welcoming a high-level delegation from the Team Europe Joint Mission, led by Her Excellency Ambassador Belen Calvo Uyarra, Head of the European Union to Rwanda.

The visit underscored a powerful, shared commitment to advancing the health sector and empowering young people—two pillars essential for sustainable development.

The delegation was received by the District Executive Secretary, Alex Kanayoge, who highlighted the critical role of global partnerships in accelerating local transformation. Their presence in Musanze highlighted the growing recognition that meaningful community progress is best achieved through collaboration, effectively bridging local priorities with international support.

Ambassador Calvo Uyarra was accompanied by distinguished representatives from several European nations, forming a unified “Team Europe.” This group included Her Excellency Aurélie Royet-Gounin, Head of the French Embassy in Rwanda; Her Excellency Heike Uta Dettmann from the German Embassy in Kigali; senior representatives from the Netherlands; and chargés d’affaires from Poland and Luxembourg. Together, they reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Rwanda’s development agenda, particularly in sectors that directly impact people’s well-being and future opportunities.

A key highlight was a field tour of the Musanze Youth Center, a vibrant hub of innovation and opportunity. The delegation witnessed firsthand how strategic investments are transforming lives. The center stands as a beacon of hope, offering young people access to essential resources, skills training, and a supportive environment where ideas can grow into impactful initiatives. During interactive sessions, youth beneficiaries shared their experiences, demonstrating how the center has become a catalyst for personal growth and community engagement, helping them acquire practical skills, build confidence, and develop a sense of purpose.
