Democratic Green Party of Rwanda Holds Political Bureau Meeting, Launches Digital Tools for Growth
Kigali, Rwanda – May 24, 2025 — Members of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR), also known as the Green Party, gathered from across all provinces for a key Political Bureau Meeting at the Olympic Hotel in Gasabo District, Kigali.
The meeting brought together party leaders, commissioners, and grassroots representatives to chart the party’s future direction, strengthen internal structures, and advance its core mission of environmental protection, sustainable development, and participatory democracy.
Party President Senator Dr. Frank Habineza opened the gathering by welcoming participants and outlining priorities for the session. Highlights included focused training on environmental protection and climate change — issues that remain at the heart of the DGPR’s political agenda.
Key Launches and Strategic InitiativesIn a significant step toward modernization, the party officially launched:
- An online membership database and application system, designed to streamline recruitment, improve coordination, and enhance communication among members nationwide.
- A new five-year Strategic Plan.
- A comprehensive Communication Strategy.
Dr. Habineza emphasized that the digital platform will make membership management more efficient and help the party expand its reach, particularly among youth and women.
Participants also reviewed and approved internal documents, including revised rules and regulations, new commissioner appointments, and committee members.
A Focus on Constructive Engagement
The gathering underscored the DGPR’s commitment to operating as a credible opposition through policy ideas, accountability, and community engagement rather than confrontation. Party officials highlighted ongoing grassroots mobilization efforts and the need to address pressing national challenges such as climate resilience and inclusive governance.
This meeting comes as the party continues to build visibility following the 2024 general elections, where Dr. Habineza ran as a presidential candidate.
