Rwanda Agriculture Show Wins Praise as Exhibitors Celebrate New Knowledge, Business Links and Growth Opportunities

Participants at the 19th Rwanda Agriculture Show 2026 have praised the annual exhibition for creating valuable opportunities to acquire new agricultural knowledge, showcase their products, connect with potential buyers and establish partnerships that could shape the future of their businesses. Many exhibitors say the event has not only increased the visibility of their produce but has also inspired them to adopt modern farming practices that will boost productivity and improve livelihoods.

The 19th Rwanda Agriculture Show 2026, which opened on July 22 and runs until July 31, is being held at Mulindi in Gasabo District under the theme, “Accelerating Agri-Food Systems Transformation through Innovation and Strategic Partnerships.” The exhibition has brought together hundreds of exhibitors from across Rwanda, including farmers, cooperatives, agribusinesses, financial institutions, researchers and development partners, all showcasing innovations and technologies aimed at transforming the country’s agricultural sector.
Among the exhibitors is Rurakabije Froduald, who represented a cooperative of 684 members engaged in the cultivation of potatoes, beans and wheat. The cooperative showcased a variety of products, including potatoes, passion fruits, berries and beans, while using the exhibition as an opportunity to share experiences with other farmers and promote its products to a wider market.
Rurakabije said the Agriculture Show has become an important learning platform where farmers can exchange knowledge, discover innovative farming techniques and build business relationships that can improve their livelihoods.
“This exhibition has given us many opportunities,” he said. “Besides the knowledge we have already acquired, we meet people who are interested in our products, making it easier for us to access reliable markets at the right time.”
He added that the support and training received by the cooperative have helped members improve their farming practices, particularly in organic fertilizer production, crop management, and proper post-harvest handling and storage of both produce and seeds.
“We have learned a lot from farmers who are more experienced than us. Seeing what they have achieved gives us confidence that we can also reach that level. Every exhibition adds something new to our knowledge and motivates us to improve even further,” he added.
Another exhibitor, Ngwabije Damien, represented a cooperative of 732 members specializing in vegetable production, particularly onions and garlic. He said participating in the exhibition has expanded the cooperative’s knowledge while creating opportunities to establish lasting business relationships.
“This exhibition has broadened our knowledge and connected us with people who could become valuable partners in future agricultural projects,” Damien said.
He noted that interacting with fellow exhibitors, agricultural experts and visitors has provided fresh ideas that will help the cooperative improve production, increase product quality and identify new market opportunities.
Meanwhile, Uzamukunda Yukunda, President of ABM Cooperative, which operates in Nyamabuye, Cyeza and Muhanga sectors of Muhanga District, said participating in the exhibition has enabled the cooperative to demonstrate the quality of its products while learning from other successful farmers and innovators.
She explained that through agricultural capacity-building initiatives, cooperative members have adopted improved farming practices, including the production of organic fertilizer and proper land preparation techniques, leading to better yields and improved product quality.
The cooperative showcased a diverse range of products, including Ishema rya Makera maize flour, hybrid maize seeds suitable for both highland and lowland farming, carrots, green beans, beetroot and eggplants. According to Uzamukunda, visitors expressed great interest in the products, giving cooperative members confidence that their efforts are being recognized by consumers.
“We are delighted by the response from visitors. They have shown genuine interest in our products, and many now better understand the quality of what we produce. The knowledge we have gained and the connections we have made here will help us continue growing,” she said.
Exhibitors agreed that the Rwanda Agriculture Show has become much more than a marketplace for agricultural products. They described it as a national platform for innovation, knowledge sharing and networking, where farmers exchange ideas, learn about modern technologies and establish partnerships that contribute to the transformation of Rwanda’s agricultural sector.
