Ambassadors of Christ Choir Packs BK Arena for Emotional 30th Anniversary Concert
KIGALI — A sold-out BK Arena pulsed with worship on Sunday evening as the Ambassadors of Christ Choir marked three decades of ministry with a grand concert titled “God Painted Our Story.”
Worshippers from Rwanda and neighboring countries including Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and the Democratic Republic of Congo filled the venue for the milestone celebration. The choir, one of Rwanda’s longest-running gospel ensembles and rooted in Remera Seventh-day Adventist Church, performed without guest artists, relying entirely on its Junior and Senior groups.
The program featured beloved songs such as Namani, Tuzamuye Amashimwe, Ntacyamunanira, Ubuntu Butangaje, Imirimo, Ibyo Unyuramo and Iwacu Heza. The choir also performed Kuki Wabyemeye, written in memory of members who died in a 2012 road accident, and Solange, a teaching song about obedience. Crowds sang along throughout, with some worshippers visibly moved to tears.
Pioneers and long-serving members were recognized on stage for their contributions over 30 years. The evening included a cake-cutting ceremony that symbolized the choir’s journey of resilience, evangelism and growth across East and Central Africa.
Among those in attendance were businesswoman and philanthropist Kate Bashabe, who supported the event through her Rahura brand focused on education and children; Pastor Fidèle Masengo and his wife; journalist Scovia Mutesi; and former state minister Edouard Bamporiki.
The concert capped months of anniversary activities that included community service, tree planting and outreach. Choir leaders have described the three-decade path as one painted by God through both triumphs and setbacks, including the 2012 tragedy that tested the group’s resolve.
Attendees left describing the night as a powerful reminder of faith expressed through music, with the packed arena standing as evidence of the choir’s enduring regional influence.
