High Profile delegation visits Kinyinya Green City Site as Master plan Design reaches Final Stage

A high profile delegation on Wednesday, 10th June 2020 visited  Kinyinya/Kigali Green City Site to eyewitness the physical site where the much awaited Green City will be constructed.

A delegation that was received at the site by the CEO of Rwanda Green Fund, Hubert Ruzibiza was composed of Rwanda’s Minister of Environment Dr. Mujawamaliya Jeanne d’Arc, Amb. Thomas Kurz of Germany, Dorothea Groth, Head of Development Cooperation in the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kigali as well as Patrick Karera, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment.

Also, Kigali Green City announced that the City Design competion is at the final stage.

In a tweet, the City project coordinator said “We are happy to announce the final stage of the Green City Kigali Design Competition! The competition invited architects and urban designers to draw up a master plan for a green, affordable and inclusive city extension in Kinyinya, Kigali.”

Green City Team Leader and Fund CEO Ruzibiza provided an overview of how the flagship Green Growth project will create a model for sustainable urbanisation and development on 620 hectares in Kinyinya in Gasabo District

The sustainable urbanisation project is being implemented by the Rwanda Green fund with German state-owned development bank, KfW and the World’s largest Green Climate Fund.

“Through the project, we are bringing sustainable development to those living in Kinyinya. We are grateful for the support of the local community and they are eagerly awaiting the kick-off of activities here at the site.” – Min Mujawamariya said
