Rwanda Minister of Education explains Schools reopening schedule

Rwanda’s Minister of Education Dr. Valentine UWAMARIYA has said “Schools reopening will start in mid-October, 2020, however, she explains “Reopening of schools will be done in stages” starting with higher learning Institutions.

Dr. UWAMARIYA told National Radio on Saturday morning that the Ministry of Education has worked in close collaboration with Education institutions to assess how far schools are prepared for the reopening and to advise on the guidelines that will be implemented when the schools are reopened.

Rwanda Cabinet announced on Friday that Schools will reopen soon after almost seven months of closure due to COVID 19.

Minister Dr. UWAMARIYA said that the Ministry will inform the public on the reopening of schools starting soon with Universities and Higher Learning Institutions.

“This means that we are starting the journey”. She says.

Among the requirements to reopen are installation of functioning Hygiene and Sanitation infrastructure, being able to assure the physical distancing in refectory, classrooms, etc…, use of facemasks at school, as well as many other guidelines as given by the Ministry of Health.

Minister UWAMARIYA reminds parents to start preparing for the reopening of schools.
