Cardinal Kambanda, Paul Kagame meeting shows the good relations between the Church and the government
The Archbishop of Kigali, Antoine Cardinal Kambanda has expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, for receiving him and for the present good relationship between the government and the Catholic Church.
The Office of the President, Village Urugwiro via Twitter said that on May 5, 2021, President Kagame met with Cardinal Kambanda, but it was not immediately clear what the two had discussed.

President Kagame received Antoine Cardinal Kambanda seven months after Pope Francis elevated him to the rank of Cardinal in the Catholic Church.
During the Mass organized in Rwanda to celebrate the coronation of Cardinal Kambanda, the President said that the country has Cardinal Kambanda as a Rwandan, as a child of Rwanda who has risen from the rank of Priest to the rank of Cardinal.
On Thursday, Antoine Cardinal Kambanda via his twitter account said “I am very grateful to H.E. President Paul Kagame for receiving me and for the present good relationship between the government and the Catholic Church. This helps us to build a nation of unity and brotherhood in history.”
